Riven Rock Ranch art show to
feature Peter Robbins and Kim
Robbins
Comfort, Texas —Riven Rock Ranch
is pleased to announce an art
show, “A Texas Tradition,”
featuring the art of Kim Robbins
and Peter Robbins and
benefitting the Boys and Girls
Club of Comfort . “A Texas
Tradition” will be held Memorial
Day Weekend, May 25-27, 2012
from noon until 5pm, with an
artist’s reception on Saturday,
May 26th from 2 to 5pm.
Recently featured in Western
Horseman magazine, Peter’s
artwork and photography
encapsulate the hard work and
independent spirit of the
American west. Robbins began his
career as a photojournalist in
the 1980s when he worked for
American and European news
agencies. Peter has covered
assignments throughout Europe,
Asia, the Middle East and
Central and South America;
working in Eygpt and Jordan at
the close of the 1st Gulf War,
and stationed in Central America
during the Nicaraguan and
Guatemalan crises of 1986.
In 1995, Robbins began
photographing ranches throughout
Texas, Arizona, Colorado, New
Mexico and Wyoming, alongside
the men of those ranches,
documenting the daily lives of
cowboys, their horses and
cattle.
Peter enlarges his photos on
canvas, then paints over or
embellishes it in oil pastels.
Each image is original and
cannot be duplicated.
Kim’s career in photography
began in front of the camera as
a professional fashion model
working in the United States and
Europe. In 1981 she and Peter
married and moved to Europe
where they continued to build
their careers, together and
separately. Kim worked as a film
editor and makeup stylist in
editorial fashion shoots. As a
photographer, Kim began working
alongside Peter and learned how
to print and retouch all her own
work. With a continuing career
as a portrait photographer, Kim
has expanded her subject matter
to include spontaneous captured
images of people, architectural
and landscape elements as well
as studies of macro-florals.
The art show will be held in The
Terrace Grill Pavilion and is
open to the public. During the
artist’s reception, local wines
and light hors d’oeuvres will be
served, and Kevin McCormick will
provide classical guitar music.
A raffle will be held for a
piece the Robbins’s have
donated, the total amount of
which will benefit the Boys and
Girls Club of Comfort, along
with a portion of the sales from
the weekend show.
